Your hosts

Sharon and Peter Garner

Sharon and Peter bought Burnside in 1999 and opened it as a bed and breakfast in 2002. They have been looking after walkers, cyclists, and lake lovers ever since.

Sharon

A former pastry chef. The homemade waffles on the breakfast table are her recipe, and the baking standards have not slipped since.

Peter

A National Trust ranger and red squirrel conservationist. Ask him about the fells and you may not get away for a while.

The old railway path runs from near the house into Keswick town centre: a flat, paved mile, 10 to 20 minutes on foot. From town, the Derwentwater shoreline path is the classic easy circuit.

Fells, water, and stone circles

Derwentwater, Catbells, and Skiddaw are the reason most people come to Keswick. Castlerigg stone circle sits on the fell above town, one of the area's oldest sights.
